The AA

The Architectural Association (AA), one of the oldest schools of architecture in the UK, was founded in 1847 with the aspiration of ‘promoting and affording facilities for the study of architecture for the public benefit’. Since 1847, the AA has been committed to producing and disseminating ideas that challenge and advance the design of contemporary culture, cities and the environment, constantly and fearlessly looking into the future. The AA is committed to extending the support it offers to help ensure that the most talented students are able to study at the school, regardless of their financial means. Currently one in five students receives financial support from a scholarship, bursary, student assistantship or the AA Hardship Fund. The school aims to increase the funding available and to introduce fully-paid scholarships for the most deserving students who would otherwise not be able to study at the AA.
